Papa Ghost
“Are you on the square? Are you on the level? Are you ready to swear right here right now, before the devil?” -Ghost, Square Hammer
I first saw the Swedish band Ghost as opening act for Iron Maiden, (2019?), and have been fascinated with them ever since. They have an enigmatically evil act accompanied by some unexpectedly catchy songs. This doll isn't trying to be an exact replica of, but is definitely trying to be a worthy tribute to the band, especially the Papa Emeritus character. For the record, I listened to Ghost’s entire playlist on on a loop the whole time I was working on ithis piece! Yep, I am going straight to hell.
This (blasphemous) altered porcelain doll was glued, wired, taped, and tied into existence with sumptuous fabric scraps, fancy trim, a wood base and dowl, a few found jewelry bits, and a little acrylic paint.
approx. 19”x7”x5”
