We see a babbling brook or a misty waterfall and feel calm wonder, while a raging flood or a crashing wave can fill us with abject terror. Our brains and hearts are up to 73% water, and we die without it. Although water has been a part of religious symbolism and ritual throughout human history, too many of us fail to respect water as the essential, and ultimately finite natural resource it is.
